Te Tōangaroa, the first tangata whenua urban precinct.
A landmark urban development in Tāmaki Makaurau, revitalising a historic precinct into a dynamic hub for community, commerce, and culture through innovative design and significant growth.
Once thriving with trade and steeped in history, Te Tōangaroa is a vibrant urban neighbourhood in Tāmaki Makaura Auckland's City Centre where lively events, delicious kai and mahi toi are waiting to be discovered.
Our living masterplan, like all Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Properties projects, is deeply collaborative, underpinned by our hapū values, long-term objectives, and for the enjoyment of all in our beautiful city. Our aspiration is to foster a place where the people of Tāmaki Makaurau connect, share culture, and enjoy the vibrant environment.

From Parnell's eastern gateway to Britomart Train Station, Te Tōangaroa defines a precinct rich in history. It tells the story of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, central Tāmaki Makaurau's tangata whenua and owners of the land.
Bordering the Waitematā, Auckland's vibrant waterfront, Te Tōangaroa offers prime commercial value. It benefits from excellent motorway access, proximity to the Universities, the Port, and public transport.
Te Tōangaroa has a rich history and has always been a significant part of Tāmaki.
We continue to reinvigorate Te Tōangaroa through new initiatives, including Mahi Toi. These thought-provoking art installations throughout the precinct share our stories and celebrate our journey, each piece nodding to the whenua and the history of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei as we re-establish our city centre presence.
Beyond this, lively activities, delicious kai, and elements of a rich past converge to create a truly unique experience for visitors and whānau alike.

Our stories
We’re invested in this place and we’re not going anywhere. This is just the beginning of Te Tōangaroa becoming great.
