A meticulously designed development providing safe, warm, and accessible homes for our kaumātua, fostering comfort and connection at the heart of the papa kāinga.
Kāinga Kaumātua is a testament to our commitment to quality. This development, officially opened in 2022, showcases our expertise in diverse housing solutions. It features 10 low-maintenance homes (5 duplex blocks), meticulously designed with our kaumātua in mind.
The homes stand on the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei papa kāinga and provide warm, dry, and accessible living spaces with a seamless connection to the marae.
We are proud to honour our kaumātua with this thoughtful, community-led housing, from design through to execution. This initiative simultaneously sets a new precedent for kaumātua housing developments and celebrates our profound connection to the whenua.
The design process for Kāinga Kaumātua, a collaboration with Jasmax, involved active, direct engagement with our elders via Te Taumata and a dedicated working rōpu.
This crucial input directly informed the homes' design concepts, ensuring they truly met residents’ needs and insights, underscoring our ability to offer bespoke solutions across various development types.
Kāinga Kaumātua represents our commitment to build homes that actively address specific needs, providing a truly safe and warm sanctuary.
While boasting panoramic Waitematā Harbour views, these completed residences are also expertly designed to welcome mokopuna, whānau members, and essential overnight support
